Cami Jacobsen with the Minnehaha Extension Master Gardeners joined us on today's show to share what the trendiest houseplants of 2021 are. She walks us through them from lowest to highest maintenance. It's getting hot in KELOLAND, and the heat doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. While the sun and heat is good for the plants up to a certain point, it can also become too much for them to thrive or even survive.

A great combination for part shade, the soft pony tail grass drapes beautifully beneath the Painter's Palette plant.
While the Painter's Palette plant does put out pretty red spike-like bracts, its true beauty is in its variegated leaves.
Persicaria plants require shade to part shade.
Leaves will scorch if given full sun.
The persicaria plant benefits from trimming when first planted to encourage more branching.
I featured the "Bubblegum" petunia in container #21 and here is another combination using one of my favorite petunias.

Flowers are relatively rare on cacti and succulents, but when they occur, you are treated to a beautiful sight!
This combination boasts various shades of pink and the colors become brighter as the summer goes on.
The tall center plant is appropriately nicknamed "Propeller Plant" with its flat propeller-shaped leaves!
The dark colored succulents are brightened by the pop of orange blossoms on the ice plant.
This container is packed with interesting plants.
