CATSKILL NATIVE NURSERY has been inspiring gardeners since 1999 to create biodiverse and remarkably ornamental gardens using plants that are native to eastern North America. The nursery is now closed for the winter. If you are not already on our email list, please sign up to receive our notices about sales and events. Our landscaping services are now booked for 2021.
We will start to book for 2022 later in the season when we (hopefully) start to catch up. We do not ship plants. We do not sell seeds, but we partner with HUDSON VALLEY SEED CO. Please leave your pets at home. Our two barky Icelandic Sheepdogs enjoy welcoming people to the nursery, but their noise and herding instincts can be intimidating to other animals.
Join our email newsletter if you would like to receive information about sales, workshops and special events. You can also ask us about inventory and our landscaping services here. Please note we DO NOT have a plant list or catalog. Our inventory is always in flux and comes and goes too quickly for us to keep an up-to-date record.

Native plants are a natural choice for woodland, meadow, and aquatic gardens.
Most are equally at home in the flower borders around your house.
Native plants are ornamental, easy to maintain and provide food and habitat for birds, butterflies, bees and other wildlife - and yourself.
Many natives are becoming scarce in the wild - you can help to restore biodiversity by adding native plants to your landscape.

Green Witch Herbs was created as a complementary extension of Catskill Native Nursery.
Here you will find a large selection of culinary, fragrant and medicinal herbs, along with many favorite non-native cottage flowers and some perennial and annual vegetables.
The pottery and art have been chosen to satisfy the most discriminating gardener and range from classic urns and statuary to a tasteful array of eccentric objects because we believe a garden benefits from a sense of humor and the element of surprise.

Our farmhouse and barns date back to 1820 and the land was continuously farmed up until the 1960's.
Over our time here, various people have stopped by and told us stories about the previous occupants who lived in this house and worked the land.
A few years ago, a Mr. Markle came by and gave us a photo of the farmhouse from about 1905.
His ancestors lived here from the 1860's to the early 1900's.
The ladies in front of the horseless carriage are Mrs.
Willis Markle and her friend Mrs. Edna McDonald.

We define ourselves as ecological landscapers because we take into consideration the relationships between plants and animals in natural communities.
We enhance those relationships to create a stronger, healthier environment that maintains and preserves the natural beauty and balance of the local landscape.
We believe that gardening with local native plants is essential to providing a regional identity to a designed landscape and nestling a house in its natural surroundings.
Our landscaping services are now booked for 2021.
