Shademakers was established in 1991 primarily as a landscaping company, and landscaping is still the foundation of our business.
We design and install unique outdoor spaces to be useful as well as beautiful.

In 1894 our Great-Great Uncle Rolla Drake and his wife Orie built up the farm where Shademakers was started in 1991.
Although our Garden Center has moved into town, the farm is still home to our landscape operations, greenhouses and production nursery.
Over the years some things have changed but most have stayed the same.
In the big barn, we still have many of the contraptions that were used to work the land generations past.
The land around the Nursery is still farmed today, but by modern methods.
