The Albuquerque Master Gardener Program is now accepting applications for 2022 - see below. We are community volunteers trained in horticulture by the New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension Service. We can answer both general and specific questions about all aspects of growing things. We can help you understand the science of the various soils in our area and tell you what grows best here.
We can help with those pesky entomology, or bug, problems. We have up-to-date information about plant botany, plant diseases, growing fruits and vegetables, caring for your lawn, and growing roses. Are you interested in xeriscaping? We have information about that as well. We are here to help you develop gardens that will thrive and be beautiful in our arid landscape.
Look through our frequently asked questions (FAQs). Explore our resources. Once your question has been submitted someone will contact you to help you solve your problem. Don't want to wait for an email? Between March and October you can call the Master Gardener Hotline at (505) 292-7144 or (505) 243-1386, from 9:30AM to 2:30PM daily, including holidays and weekends, to speak to a Master Gardener in person.

Services
Unfortunately, the 2021 Albuquerque Tomato Fiesta has been cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control.
The nature of our Fiesta does not lend itself well to social distancing and masks, with recipe tasting, tomato tastings and open food etc.
It was not certain that this type of an event could or should be held at this time.
The Tomato Fiesta is held at the Albuquerque Garden Center, 10120 Lomas NE, Albuquerque, in Los Altos Park.
The city of Albuquerque has closed Los Altos Park entirely, except for the pool and the Garden Center, for an extensive renovation project.

These updated seasonal calendars will help you stay on top of the normal workflow in your garden.
The calendars include great lists of what's blooming, what pests are active, and monthly garden activities broken down by month.
How handy is THAT?! Remember that unusual weather patterns can sometimes affect the timing of garden tasks.

The Hotline is one of the main ways that the Albuquerque Master Gardeners serve the public, by providing an easy way to get your questions answered.
You may call in to our Master Gardener Remote Hotline (505 292-7144) daily from 9:30am to 2:30pm; or visit with us at the Bernalillo Extension Office (505 243-1386) on Menaul and Indian School where we answer calls and assist in person clients from 9am to noon on weekdays only.
Both locations are staffed by volunteers who are trained to answer questions you might have about a variety of local horticultural problems.
