The Demonstration Garden is the oldest of the Polk County Master Gardener projects and has been in existence since 1988. It is the product of a cooperative arrangement between the Polk County Extension and the City of Urbandale. The garden provides a hands-on working area for various garden techniques, and hosts a free lecture series each year. Three Smooth Stones - Soothing and meditative art objects made of smooth stones - hand painted, or felted and embroidered.

Out of My Gourd - Dried gourds that are painted, wood-burned and carved to make bird houses. Delaney layers crayon, watercolors and ink to create the depth and luminosity often found in oil paintings. Handmade porcelain ceramics decorated with original decals, inspired by a love of animals and nature. Jewelry with a magical mix of metal and stone: copper, silver, brass and natural semi-precious gemstones.

Acrylic paintings of food and botanical subjects, as well as nature illustrations of animals and plants. The Master Gardener program is a volunteer service training program whereby adults are given advanced training in horticulture in exchange for volunteer service to the community.
