Services
Be it a minor spruce up, or major make-over, Landscapes by Lillabeth, LLC, can help you decide what best fits your personal tastes, needs, and budget.
After earning a Master's Degree in Horticulture from the Pennsylvania State University based on research in organic vegetable intercropping at the Rodale Organic Research Institute, Lillabeth began work in 1980 as the Superintendent for several notable old estates on Long Islands Gold Coast, and more recently here in Massachusetts at the Sedgwick Gardens.
What is Permaculture?
In a nutshell, we suppose you could call it a sustainable landscape.
However, the Permaculture Garden is so much more than this.
Like nature, it is not a static place.
There is vitality, movement, and a sense of life that acts responsibly.
There is a heavy emphasis on perennial food production, and the creation of a space that is not only beautiful, but also functional in a way that supports both nature, and our own personal needs as humans.
It is a solution to producing more local food in our communities, without creating a footprint.
Lillabeth has been my designer and attending landscaper (to our gardens) since we moved to our property 15 years ago!
When I described vaguely the look I wanted, she embraced the task, educated me with photos and characteristics of what was appropriate in that exposure.
Her delightful staff as well as Lillabeth herself, went to work and cared for my gardens throughout the summer.
Before Lillabeth came to spray, we had a lot of destruction in our yard by skunks, raccoons & moles or voles.
Now we have grass growing on its own in many former destroyed places.
If for some reason there was only one thing you could do this fall in your garden, what would you choose to do?
That would be a simple choice for me.
I would plant some spring flowering bulbs.
Now there is some delayed gratification for you.
All winter as the wind is howling and the snow is flying, there are those little cheery flower babies just waiting for the first ray of spring sun to coax them out of the ground and into flower.
From the minute you plant them there is something to look forward to in the next year.
